🧠 Practice Area Strategy

In short: Simmons & Simmons has a clearly defined sector driven strategy. The firm concentrates on five key sectors Asset Management & Investment Funds, Financial Institutions, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Technology, Media & Telecoms, and now Energy & Infrastructure and it’s investing heavily where client demand is strongest.

Core sectors drive growth: Simmons’ work is centered on its core industries. In the past year, the firm’s focus on asset management, financial services, life sciences, and TMT paid off with each of these four sectors growing around 7 to 8%, together contributing over 80% of total revenue. This consistent growth underlines that Simmons is aligning its expertise with client demand in these areas such as booming investment funds activity and tech sector deals.

New energy & infrastructure push: In 2025 the firm added a fifth global sector to its roster by launching the ENRIC group Energy, Natural Resources, Infrastructure & Construction. This move was a response to surging work in energy and infrastructure from renewable power projects to large construction mandates. By unifying over 100 lawyers under ENRIC, Simmons is positioning itself to capture opportunities from the global energy transition and infrastructure boom. For example, the firm’s recognised strength in oil & gas and renewables is now housed in a dedicated sector team led by partner Iain Duncan.
